Adler: Sales Associate for Art on a Mission/Warehouse
Assistant for Thrift Store
Art on a Mission is the only place I have sought employment... My father-in-law (Stanford Adler) has his jewelry on consignment at Art on a Mission and strongly supports the Mission's purpose. He recommended I seek employment at Art on a Mission. After a tour of the Mission and speaking with Lee Clark and Joy Sylvester-Johnson, I agreed that I would love to be a part of the Mission family. I have been an antique dealer and antique restorer for over 25 years. I was an art and English major in school and felt I could be an asset at Art on a Mission. |

Scott Blessing: Men's Shelter Supervisor
I came to the Rescue
Mission following 15+ years naval service and an additional 9 years as a
civilian electronics technician and 2 years of college. Even with a blessed
life, I realized that I was not serving God to the extent that I believed
that He wanted me to. I had the desire to serve God by helping others and
the Rescue Mission offered me this rewarding opportunity. I am able to
daily share Jesus with others as I minister to the guest's needs as a member
of the men's shelter staff. |

I chose to stay on as Support Staff as a continuing part of my recovery program. I hope to work with the women in the recovery program and give back what was so freely given to me. I hope to be reunited with my 3 younger children very soon. I will also be a grandmother in June. |

Lee Clark:
Director of Development Since joining the Rescue Mission, I’m often asked if I’m a Pastor. The answer is both yes and no. No, I’m not an ordained minister but yes I do get to minister to people in some pretty amazing ways. Being a part of the Rescue Mission is a privilege and allowing God to use my life as Director of Development and Administration at The Rescue Mission is just one way that I get to minister to “hurting people in Jesus’ name” each day. God blesses this work in awesome ways and I look forward to meeting you and sharing how you might also be blessed by helping hurting families at The Rescue Mission.
One of the significant ways God has blessed me is
through Sandra, my wife of 20+ years and our children Cary-Grace and
Andrew. We live here in Roanoke and are constantly delighted by God’s
presence in our lives, in our work and in our home. |

Counts: Coordinator for Ministries to Children As Minister to Children, I meet with parents and children when they first come to the shelter to make sure kids are in school and have everything they need. I plan children’s activities and outings as well as bring in volunteers do activities with the kids. I also encourage positive interaction between the parents and their children – whether it’s doing homework together, sitting down and reading a book together, or just playing games and having fun. I love the Rescue Mission and believe in the work people do here. I am truly blessed to be a part of this, and I love the children here! |

Larry
Croson: Men's Shelter Supervisor My name is Larry and I am a grateful recovering addict. I'm here at the Rescue Mission because my life and life style was totally dysfunctional. I was spiritually bankrupt and had forgotten how to live. I was not happy because there wasn't a power greater than myself in my life. I just couldn't continue to live like that. What I do here at the Rescue Mission is take care of our Guest as Third Shift Supervisor in the Night Shelter. I do this by sharing my strength, hope and experience with them so that there life can change if they let Jesus in. |

Pam Crunkleton: Art On A Mission Manager The Mission hired me just before Christmas 2003 during a time when the manager of the Mission’s gallery was recovering from surgery. It was the answer to my prayers. My background is in art. I was a visual staff person for the Belk Company doing store displays. Earlier in my career I was a graphic artist in the development office at Hampton -Sydney College for many years before I had children. I love my work, trying to make money for the Mission’s medical clinic and extending the Mission’s ministry into the community. My children are learning there is a place for everyone and worthy work to be done that will sustain you no matter who you are. |
